We are seeking Kyrgyz (Kyrgyzstani) Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Kyrgyz, a Turkic language spoken in Kyrgyzstan and across Central Asia, is a rare but critical language often needed for asylum, refugee, and immigration interviews.
Responsibilities
Provide real-time Kyrgyz English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and official proceedings.Deliver interpretation with accuracy, impartiality, and professionalism in immigration and legal contexts.Adhere to USCIS / DHS interpreter ethics and confidentiality standards.Manage both scheduled and urgent / surge interpretation requests.Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance audits.Qualifications
Native or near-native fluency in Kyrgyz and English.2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, asylum, legal, NGO, or government preferred).Familiarity with interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural awareness.Excellent communication skills; ability to stay accurate under pressure.Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3 / Tier 5 federal clearance.Compensation & Benefits
