The Senior Manager of Supply Chain is responsible for overseeing daily supply chain operations including purchasing, inventory management, warehousing, shipping / receiving, and vendor performance. This role drives efficiency while ensuring material availability to support production and leads continuous improvement efforts within a Lean Manufacturing environment. The Senior Manager partners closely with site leadership and group supply chain teams to support operational and strategic goals.
Requirements
Leadership & Operational Management
- Lead the supply chain team with a focus on performance, accountability, development, and alignment with company values and standards.
- Drive continuous improvement, efficiency, and cost reduction within a Lean Manufacturing environment.
- Establish and manage supply chain KPIs aligned with site and corporate business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Purchasing & Vendor Management
Manage all direct and indirect purchasing activities to meet cost, quality, and delivery requirements.Source materials and components from new and existing suppliers to support production demands.Evaluate supplier performance, negotiate pricing and terms, and maintain accurate terms and conditions for all purchase orders.Develop strong supplier relationships to ensure reliable supply and long-term value.Identify and onboard new vendors to support business growth and mitigate supply risk.Inventory & Materials Management
Monitor inventory levels and maintain a 98%+ full-kit readiness rate.Apply material provisioning models aligned with production forecasts to ensure appropriate stock availability.Manage inventory accuracy through cycle counts, proper storage, usage controls, and reduction initiatives.Minimize excess inventory, obsolescence, and carrying costs .Logistics & Distribution
Coordinate with freight forwarders and transportation partners to secure optimal routes, service levels, and freight rates.Review and approve freight terms and logistics agreements to ensure cost-effective performance.Oversee shipping and receiving processes to meet customer OTD and turnaround time (TAT) expectations.Analysis & Reporting
Conduct regular analysis of purchasing, inventory, supplier performance, and supply chain processes to identify improvement opportunities.Prepare and present reports, dashboards, charts, and data summaries to support decision-making.Ensure proper and accurate utilization of the ERP system (Pentagon) within the supply chain team.Budgeting & Compliance
Support the development and monitoring of supply chain budgets aligned with business plans and OTD / TAT objectives.Maintain organized, efficient, and professional work areas.Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Manufacturing / Operations, Engineering, or a related field required.Minimum 5 years of progressive supply chain leadership experience in aerospace or a similarly complex manufacturing environment.Ability to read and interpret technical data, specifications, and engineering drawings.Strong computer proficiency, especially in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.MRP / ERP system experience required (Pentagon experience preferred).Demonstrated ability to make sound business decisions, manage deadlines, and perform under pressure.Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels, including executive leadership.Consistent professional demeanor when interacting with customers, vendors, visitors, and business partners.Proven experience leading and developing cross-functional teams to support organizational performance.Demonstrated success implementing Lean, continuous improvement initiatives, and other best-in-class manufacturing practices to enhance quality, cost, and schedule performance.High level of integrity, confidentiality, and discretion in managing sensitive information.Preferred Skills :
Extensive knowledge of aerospace industry, preferably in both OEM and MRO operations.Prior experience leading or supporting cultural transformation is highly preferred.APIM Certified Production Inventory Management (CPIM) a plus.Benefits
