Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 1 trauma Emergency Department position in Illinois, requiring an active IL RN license and multiple critical care certifications.
Responsibilities
Work in a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department within an acute care hospitalUnit features 65 private beds and 2 trauma baysNurse to patient ratios range from 1 : 3 to 1 : 5, based on acuity and department needsCare for a broad patient population, from newborns to the elderly, including minor complaints, critically ill, cardiac arrest, strokes, heart attacks, and traumaUtilize and interpret Phillips monitors and titrate various drips, including vasopressors and cardiac medicationsUse the Epic EMR systemSchedule consists of three 12-hour day shifts (7a-7p) per week, with rotating weekends and holidaysNo call requirement for travelersPossible float to provide support on other units, but not to take an assignmentScrub attire should be tasteful with solid colored shirts underneath; no specific color requiredWork alongside a team of attending physicians, charge nurses, house supervisors, and ED techsTravelers may care for stabilized trauma patients but will not serve as the primary nurse in the trauma bayMonitor techs assist, but competency in rhythm interpretation is requiredED techs support the department with a 1 : 9 ratio; respiratory therapists assist with advanced equipmentBlock scheduling may be available; time off requests considered during contract negotiationHoliday coverage is negotiable based on department needsNo radius rule for candidates; local pay rate applies for those within 50 milesRequirements
Active IL RN license required at time of considerationCurrent certifications required : BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC or TNSMinimum of 2 years of emergency nursing experience requiredAt least one prior travel assignment preferredProficiency in titrating drips and managing critical care medications requiredExperience in trauma care and teaching hospital settings preferredAbility to interpret and act on life-threatening rhythms expectedMust be comfortable drawing labs and supporting critically ill patientsBenefits
