Chief of Anesthesiology

Cheshire Medical Center , a member of the Dartmouth Health system, is seeking a dynamic and collaborative physician leader to serve as Department Chief of Anesthesiology . This is a unique opportunity to lead a dedicated team of clinicians and staff while maintaining an active clinical practice and shaping the future of care delivery in our vibrant, community-focused hospital.As Department Chief, youll guide strategic direction, support provider development, and foster a culture of collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement. Working closely with the Chair of Surgical Services and administrative leadership, you'll ensure alignment with institutional goals while advancing clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and patient-centered care. Position Summary

• Maintain an active practice and serve as a clinical role model, ensuring expert, compassionate, and cost-effective care across all anesthesia services
• Set strategic goals for the department and lead efforts to improve patient outcomes, enhance safety protocols, and streamline perioperative workflows
• Oversee quality assurance and improvement initiatives, monitor clinical performance, and ensure compliance with institutional standards and regulatory requirements
• Meet regularly with department providers to support their clinical growth, career advancement, and wellness
• Collaborate with administrative leaders to optimize staffing models, OR scheduling, and patient flowbalancing service demands with resource stewardship
• Participate in budget planning, monitor department finances, and work to enhance revenue integrity through accurate documentation, billing, and coding practices
• Contribute to provider recruitment, retention, onboarding, and succession planning, ensuring the department is well-positioned for future success
• Build strong relationships with surgical colleagues and community partners, supporting system-wide alignment and regional service goals
