Illinois Nursing Job Details

Location : Kankakee, IL 60901 – South of Chicago

Healthcare Setting : Acute Care Float Pool (Med / Surg, Med Peds, Telemetry, IMCU, Rehab, Behavioral Health)

Start Date : December 21, 2025

End Date : March 22, 2026

Contract Duration : 13 weeks

Nursing Shift : 12-hour days (5 : 00 AM – 5 : 30 PM)

Hours : 36 hours per week; every other weekend and holiday required

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1780 - $1910

Charting System : Epic EMR

Scrub Color : Caribbean blue

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license

Minimum 2 years of recent acute care RN experience (float pool experience preferred)

Proficiency with Epic EMR required

BLS and ACLS certifications required

NIHSS certification preferred

Valid driver’s license required upon submission

Not accepting first-time travel nurses for this float pool position

Nursing Responsibilities

Float between Med / Surg, Med Peds, Telemetry, IMCU, Rehab, and Behavioral Health units

Deliver care to a diverse patient population : acute surgical, orthopedic, neuro, detox, hospice, and pediatric cases

Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 5-6 (Med / Surg) and 1 : 5 (IMCU)

Collaborate with LPNs, CNAs, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams

Administer and monitor medications, including titration of heparin and lasix per protocol

Participate in unit orientation and ongoing clinical training

Call in prior to each shift for unit assignment

Ensure accurate documentation using Epic EMR
