Automotive Collision Center Painter / Technician
Job Description
Body Shop Painter -refinishes damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles in accordance with quality specifications and time standards.
Job Duties
- Removes grease and dirt from work surface
- Masks and protects parts that are not to be painted or coated
- Fills pin holes and rock chips with putty to attain smooth surface
- Mixes paint according to specifications
- Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color
- Paints surface using sprayer or brush as appropriate
- Inspects painted units for quality of workmanship, noting and correcting any runs, sags, trash and unpainted areas
- Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer
- Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous
materials. Reports any deviations to management.
Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prepping of vehiclesUnderstands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.Education / Experience :
Must have high school diploma or GEDTwo year degree with technical training preferredFour to five years related experience and / or training.Must own basic hand tools.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations :
Valid Driver's License required; must meet company insurability standards.Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check, pre-employment drug screen and physical exam to meet the physical essentials of the positionWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 75 pounds.
