Job description

Director, Business Development

Ever since our first credit card customer in 1994, Capital One has recognized that technology and data can enable even large companies to be innovative and personalized. As one of the first large enterprises to go all-in on the public cloud, Capital One needed to build cloud and data management tools that didn't exist in the marketplace to enable us to operate at scale in the cloud. In 2022, we publicly announced Capital One Software and have since brought two of our B2B software solutions to market; Slingshot and Databolt. We are seeking top tier talent to join our pioneering team and propel us towards our destination. You will be joining a team of innovative product, tech, and design leaders that tirelessly seek to question the status quo. As a Capital One Director, Business Development you'll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of building this business and bring these tools to market.

Responsibilities :

  • Develop and execute strategies to acquire new customers and design strategic partnerships.
  • Identify, contact, and engage potential customers and partners, conduct thorough needs assessments.
  • Lead the proposal process for prospective customers and partners, including negotiation strategies.
  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for new customers and strategic partners.
  • Track and report on the progress of customer acquisition and partnership development efforts.
  • Conduct in-depth market and industry analyses to pinpoint new customer segments.
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Analysis, Infrastructure Development, and Operations Teams.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Bachelors Degree in Finance, Marketing, Business, Technology or military experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Software Sales.
  • At least 1 year of experience in New product development.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • At least 5 years of experience with consistent target achievement as a quota-carrying Account Executive.
  • Ability to follow a defined sales process.
  • Experience working with tech and SI partners.
  • Understanding of data security market.
  • Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA).
  • At least 3 years of experience with CRM and other GTM tools.
  • The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location : Remote (Regardless of Location) : $205,400 - $234,400 for Director, Business Development Richmond, VA : $205,400 - $234,400 for Director, Business Development Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter. This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and / or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
