Position : Credit Manager
Manager : Chief Credit Officer
Key duties include managing the underwriting, analysis and credit quality of new loan business from certain origination teams. The role requires compliance with various company policies and procedures in addition to the SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for a non-bank lender. The Credit Manager will work closely with the sales to structure SBA compliant transactions and with the underwriting team to produce quality Credit Memo’s.
Key Responsibilities :
- Application Structuring – work closely with Business Development Officers to screen application for SBA compliance, internal credit compliance and structuring of more complex transactions.
- Loan Underwriting– Oversee preparation of thorough credit memos including financial analysis, collateral and repayment capacity. Maintain consistent credit quality and risk exposure while in compliance with SBA and internal standards. Work closely with closers to insure compliance with loan conditions and document appropriate changes timely.
- Production – Manage workflows and turn around times to deliver timely credit decisions. Focus on key KPI’’s for the underwriting team.
- Training & Development – Mentor and train underwriters, processors and business development officers
- Process Improvement – Identify and implement process enhancements across the company, leveraging technology and cross-functional collaboration to drive efficiency. Ensure accurate data in loan systems.
- Collaboration – Work closely with business development officers, loan processors and closers to deliver efficient processing and growth of the business. Participate in credit committee meetings with presentation and input on subject matter before the committee.
- Policies and Procedures – comply with all SBA and company policies and procedures relating to the Originations and Servicing functions. Recommend policy and risk mitigation strategies where needed.
- Audits – provide support for various internal or external audits
Skills and Qualifications
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting or a related field. (MBA preferred)Leadership : Excellent leadership, communication and decision-making skills.Financial Knowledge : A strong understanding of financial statements, credit analysis and risk assessment.Experience : At least 7 years’ experience in SBA lending, with at least 2 years of credit management or senior underwriting / team lead rolesAbility to work effectively with multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Analytical Skills : Proficient in analyzing complex credit requests and identifying risk factors. Experience with working in loan origination systems.Attention to Detail : Crucial for maintaining data integrity and ensuring accuracy in loan documents and financial analysis.
