Your Role Working with researchers at OLI, you will contribute to creating new simulation tools that integrate innovative chemistry with practical applications needed to improve sustainability. Through mentorship from a senior researcher, you will gain experience and confidence in conducting engineering research as part of an interdisciplinary team. Join Our Visionary Team At OLI Systems, we go beyond solving chemistry problems—we push innovation's boundaries. As a global leader in software development for complex chemical phenomena, our process modeling solutions serve over 500 enterprises and academic institutions across 35+ countries. We lead industrial digital transformation with real-time chemistry insights, automated systems, and cloud-based analytics. You will be assigned to one of the two projects listed below : PARETO Project This project enhances the Department of Energy's PARETO tool for managing produced water. Responsibilities include learning OLI Stream Analyzer and Flowsheet Software, developing workflows for integrating water chemistry, and demonstrating how water treatment affects cost and sustainability. You'll contribute to a final report, phase 2 proposal, and a technical seminar presentation. CO 2 Transportation Project This project addresses CO 2 transportation safety by developing first-principle models to understand, predict, and prevent corrosion caused by impurities within CO 2 streams resulting from carbon capture. This is a critical link in carbon management for mitigating global warming in an environmentally responsible and cost-effective way. The final product of the work will be software that will provide an integrity assessment tool to help the industry mitigate corrosion risks. You will learn the OLI Stream Analyzer and Flowsheet software and gain knowledge of thermodynamic and kinetic modeling of reactions in bulk CO 2 streams and at corroding interfaces. You will analyze experimental data generated by our partner organizations and assist in the development of kinetic models of reactions between impurities and corrosion phenomena. You will contribute to the final report and a technical seminar presentation. Why You're Vital As an OLI Intern, you'll develop solutions for critical environmental and infrastructure challenges, advancing sustainability and supporting diversity in scientific research.
