Overview
The Sr. Manager, Commercial Learning & Development will serve to support all Marketing Center ongoing training initiatives and future product training needs for inline and possible future pipeline products. This position will report directly to the Sr. Director, Sales Training and will be responsible for developing and facilitating key sales training and product initiatives. The main deliverable of this position is to conduct best in class training and learning events that support the Commercial team's goals and training needs.
Responsibilities
Be an expert of learning methods, techniques, modalities, adult learning principles, and facilitation skills to be able to lead and conduct best-in-class learning events and programs.
- Take the lead in managing the execution, and facilitation of new hire classes and ongoing trainings focused on product knowledge, market knowledge, field operation resources, and selling skills-ensuring participants understand and can apply both product and market knowledge in the field.
- Assist with the development and management of new hire and product training curricula, content & workshops. Work closely with internal and external subject matter experts to ensure cohesive, integrated training materials are developed both on time and on budget.
- Be an expert in providing coaching and direction to learning program participants
- Manage development and updates of sales training programs to elevate employee performance, engagement and influence retention.
- Manage metrics and tools to measure the success of sales and product training programs. Make recommendations for improvement to evaluate competency levels of training class participants.
- Manage and coordinate the implementation and ongoing maintenance of sales and product training materials in the company's learning management system, SKilz Lab, and other platforms to advance consistent and ongoing training standards.
- Assist in planning and execution of all sales training events and meetings, including defining goals and agendas and coordinating logistics with the Marketing Center Leadership team.
- Work closely with internal and external subject matter experts to ensure cohesive, integrated learning materials align with commercial goals / strategy and ensure thoroughness and excellence of final learning projects.
- Participate in field visits to conduct need analysis for training initiatives.
- Manage assigned learning projects and vendor relationships, ensuring quality and timeliness of deliverables within budget.
- Analyze sales data reports and performance of the field sales force to identify training support opportunities.
- Assist with department budget tracking, procurement processes and related management activity. Make recommendations on the allocation and reallocation of resources over the course of each calendar year.
- Partner with Regulatory, Compliance, Human Resources, and other appropriate departments to design and deliver relevant and compliant training programs.
- Provide guidance and share best practices with the sales organization.
- Take on a leadership role in keeping informed of new training methods and techniques and sharing of the information.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience requiredFive or more years of professional experience within the pharmaceutical / medical device or related industryField sales trainer experience preferredPrior experience within CNS and / or epilepsy preferredStrong interpersonal and collaboration skills with ability to work cross functionally across sales, marketing, market access, field operations, and senior leadershipProficient project management and analytical thinking skillsKnowledge of adult learning theory and related training techniques preferredAble to recognize needs and implement training programsSelf-motivated and highly comfortable taking ownership and delivering results in a fast-paced environment with high ambiguityAbility to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously, and adjust swiftly to changing business prioritiesAbility to effectively compete for resources both with internal and external customersProven leadership skills and strong business acumenStrong platform skillsProficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Adobe.Work is typically performed in an office or field environmentTravel is estimated at 50%May be required to routinely lift items ~25 poundsSitting or standing for long periods of time
