Job description

Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Manufacturing Systems Engineering under Kuiper Production Operations is responsible for delivering test software, hardware, and frameworks that improve the speed and quality of satellite component testing. We partner with engineering and production teams to enhance reliability and repeatability of our test systems, improve throughput, and accelerate transition.

We are seeking a Test Lab Operations Automation Engineer to implement and integrate automated testing solutions in Kuiper Labs and Manufacturing environment. This role serves as a bridge between MSE developers, testing, and operations teams, focusing on deploying automation tools, configuring test equipment, and maintaining automated testing infrastructure to streamline laboratory operations. In this role you will work across the org with many software and hardware teams for the implementation of automation solutions, prioritizing critical efforts and providing updates to senior management and stakeholders.

Implement and maintain automated test systems, TestStand sequences, and Python / LabVIEW-based test frameworks in high-paced production environments

  • Perform hardware / software integration and real-time troubleshooting on the manufacturing floor
  • Configure and integrate test equipment with automation systems
  • Set up and maintain automated testing platforms (TestStand, LabVIEW)
  • Implement data collection, reporting tools, and automated notification systems
  • Manage version control and change management processes for automation tools
  • Configure and maintain CI / CD pipelines
  • Provide technical support and training for laboratory automation users
  • Debug communication issues between test equipment and control systems
  • Support Manufacturing Engineers and Lab Technicians on test station issues
  • Understanding of test station network infrastructure

Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Manufacturing Technologies, Computer Science, or other STEM discipline

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in automating test systems and supporting high-volume production environments
  • 2+ years experience in project management skills including resource planning, managing schedules, reporting project status and prioritizing own tasks and those of other team members for multiple projects.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (Python, Java, or similar)
  • Experience with automated test equipment and instrumentation
  • Understanding of Linux / Unix systems and networking protocols
  • Experience with database management and testing frameworks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to interact efficiently with peers and customers.
  • Master's degree in related technical field
  • Background in industrial automation or aerospace manufacturing
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for laboratory automation
  • Experience in computer networking (admin level) in a Consumer Electronics (or similar) lab environment
  • Familiarity with cloud-based automation tools
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
