Job Title : Planner / Buyer Supply Chain
Position Overview
The Planner / Buyer Supply Chain is responsible for overseeing all procurement and material planning activities to ensure the timely availability of components and materials required for production. This role plays a key part in maintaining optimal inventory levels, supporting production schedules, and coordinating with suppliers, internal departments, and contract manufacturers. The Planner / Buyer will uphold company policies, quality standards, and regulatory compliance while driving cost efficiency and ensuring on-time delivery performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Material Planning & Procurement :
- Develop and maintain accurate material requirements plans (MRP) based on production forecasts, schedules, and demand. Generate requisitions and place purchase orders in a timely manner.
- Supplier Management :
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost, and delivery expectations are consistently met. Expedite materials and resolve supply issues as necessary.
- Inventory Management :
- Monitor inventory levels to avoid shortages and excess. Perform cycle counts, reconcile discrepancies, and analyze usage trends to optimize stock levels.
- Production Support :
- Collaborate with production, quality, and warehouse teams to ensure material readiness and support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
- Data & Reporting :
- Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory records. Generate reports on supplier performance, inventory status, and procurement metrics.
- Cost Control :
- Negotiate pricing, evaluate supplier bids, and identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining compliance and quality standards.
- Compliance & Documentation :
- Ensure all procurement and planning activities comply with company SOPs, GMP, and applicable regulatory requirements. Maintain documentation for audits and internal controls.
- Continuous Improvement :
- Identify and implement process improvements in procurement, planning, and inventory control to increase operational efficiency and reduce waste.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or related field preferred.25 years of experience in purchasing, planning, or supply chain management, preferably in a manufacturing or contract manufacturing environment.Strong understanding of MRP / ERP systems and inventory control best practices.Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.Effective communication and negotiation skills with both internal teams and external suppliers.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.Familiarity with GMP, ISO, or related quality and regulatory standards.Experience with supplier sourcing, qualification, and cost analysis preferred.
