Position : Color Assist

Location : Santa Monica, CA

  • Pay Range : $22.00 - $28.00 USD hourly

POSITION SUMMARY :

The Color Assistant will be responsible for filling a variety of supporting roles to the colorist and providing support to produce color grading operations from ingest to delivery. Primarily they will learn new processes and maintain proficiency with evolving technical applications and trends with the company workflow. In this position they actively provide support and solutions for the colorist team.

MAIN DUTIES :

The Color Assistant will help support, color and display systems that enable colorists to perform efficiently and productively during sessions. They will collaborate and communicate with fellow colleagues to obtain job instructions and solutions to meet project deadlines. They will be knowledgeable of the various flavors of color spaces (P3DCI, P3D65, XYZ …), LUT applications and skills for color tracing, match grading and rendering. Other duties include :

  • Operating DaVinici Resolve v20, or similar application, Barco 4K / 2KP, Kinoton film projectors, DVS Clipster, Avid, Final Cut Pro, HDSR video machines and video routers.
  • Detailed oriented with application and equipment settings.   Thoroughly check all work for errors before content is distributed downstream.
  • Help support new processes and maintain proficiency with evolving technical applications and trends with the company workflow.
  • Maintain outstanding levels of oversight of deliverables manufactured within the feature finishing process.
  • Drive client supervised sessions; screenings, visual effects reviews and color-correction sessions as directed by colorist and / or production management.
  • Work as part of a collaborative team.  Document workflows and help train incoming new hires.
  • WHAT YOU BRING :

    The ideal candidate will bring previous experience with media / post-production industry and hands-on operator experience. They will have excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as an exceptional eye for detail. They will have a solid knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite. They will also bring the following :

  • Ability to work overnight shifts.
  • Ability to work overtime with little or no notice.
  • Ability to work on weekends, as necessary.
  • Ability to work variable shifts, as necessary.
  • Ability to work also work at Hollywood / Company 3 offsite location, as necessary.
  • Problem-solving skills, good communication and interpersonal skills, and a great team player.
  • A professional level English language skill, i.e. written and verbal.
  • Can lift / carry items weighing up to 25lbs.
  • Nice to Have :

  • Knowledge of Davinci Resolve v20.
  • Other System knowledge is a plus :   DVS Clipster, Adobe Premiere, OSD / Transkoder, and Avid.
  • Digital cinema projectors and film projectors.
  • Have the capacity and interest to learn new material as needed in fast-paced and technical professional environment.
  • Basic scripting knowledge.
