The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) reports to and receives administrative direction and policy guidance from the President / CEO and collaborates with Senior Leadership Team and department heads to integrate activities and ensure maximum operational efficiency. Provides operational leadership and oversight of medical services staff including Medical Directors, Lead and Staff Psychiatrists, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, clinic nursing staff and medical assistants, and medical services administrative and support staff. Performs highly complex administrative and professional work and directs / maintains quality care standards in accordance with CARF Accreditation and best practice standards mandated by the profession. The CMO is responsible for identifying and meeting the goals, objectives, and key performance indicators (KPI’s) identified for the position and working through operational guidelines and staff to ensure compliance and positive outcomes. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
Planning, developing, and implementing departmental goals and strategies for quality psychiatric and nursing care to ensure the effective delivery of medical services, as well as compliance with funder requirements, as well as local, state and federal laws pertaining to the practice of medicine within the industry. Works closely with the CEO and senior leadership to develop and implement clinical strategies across the organization.Overseeing and facilitating the activities of medical staff at all Easterseals MORC locations, providing consultation and clinical leadership, and monitoring / improving the medical quality and safety of individuals served. Utilizes the strengths of the lead practitioners to continue the integration of behavioral health, medical rehabilitation, primary care and other services within our community and continuum of care. Advises President / CEO on systems and service delivery needs.Providing leadership support, strategic direction, and administrative policy and guidance for the agency in all medical areas including, but not limited to, quality assurance, control and improvement, utilization and peer review, cost control, clinical service delivery, continuing education, and medical school affiliationPlanning and directing medical service training programs including graduate and continuing medical education programs. Oversees the advanced training of clinical staff, psychiatric trainees and medical students through presentations, didactics and supervision of client care. Acts as a mentor to new medical staff members and medical staff leadership, serving as the central liaison between our agency and other stakeholder groups, including hospital and physicians.Providing administrative oversight of medical services staff, supervising, and managing the following.Responsible for maintaining high quality of client care and the introduction of modern techniques, therapeutic agents, and technology, including telehealth.#EastersealsMORC
