Senior Electrical Engineer

Detroit, MI | Hybrid (3 days in office)

$90,000 – $140,000+ | Sign-on bonus + relocation available | No Sponsorship Available

Are you a licensed Professional Engineer with expertise in power distribution, lighting, and low-voltage systems ? Our client, one of the nation’s most established architecture and engineering firms, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to design and lead building systems for large-scale commercial and industrial facilities .

In this role, you’ll be directly responsible for the design of interior / exterior lighting, power distribution (including standby generation), telecommunications, security, audiovisual, grounding, and site electrical distribution systems . You’ll work on high-profile projects such as battery plants, automotive facilities, medical centers, and corporate headquarters , collaborating closely with architects, engineers, and clients to deliver integrated solutions.

This is a client-facing, hands-on design role — ideal for someone who thrives on technical detail, teamwork, and seeing their designs come to life on unique, complex projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical system design for commercial and industrial buildings
  • Oversee and mentor junior engineers and designers
  • Prepare and review drawings, calculations, and specifications
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical systems
  • Present design concepts to clients and stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and project requirements
  • Conduct site visits and provide technical support during construction
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • 10+ years of electrical design experience in the A / E industry
  • Expertise in power distribution, lighting, telecom, and low-voltage systems
  • Proficiency with Revit and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70 and lighting software (Visual Lighting, AGi32)
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future
