The YVCOG Transportation Planner plays a key role in supporting regional decision makers in planning for the future of all of those that live, work, and visit Yakima Valley. It is an exciting time specific to how this region addresses land use, transportation, and human services.

ABOUT THE TRANSPORTATION PLANNER POSITION…

The Transportation Planner will have the opportunity to engage in planning across all transportation modes affecting the Yakima Region’s entire transportation network including roads / bridges, public transportation, rail, aviation, trails / pathways, freight, and new transportation technologies. Under general supervision, Transportation Planner performs planning duties in the development, administration, and support of regional transportation priorities in the Yakima Valley.

The successful applicant will have outstanding written and oral communication skills, complete projects, and tasks on time. Supporting and monitoring local agencies’ transportation needs and priorities in the Yakima Valley. The planner will work multiple tasks at any given time and must be able to manage their time and work to meet deadlines.

The Transportation Planner will develop monthly and annual technical reports and planning documents to ensure programmatic compliance for member jurisdictions. Besides technical reports, this role facilitates transportation related meetings and committees and utilizes modern transportation data analytics platforms in support of our member jurisdictions needs and goals.

The successful applicant is required to have their own transportation and be able to travel frequently around the region and / or throughout the state, including night meetings, events, trainings, and transportation related coordination meetings, conferences, and workshops.

Salary / Compensation : $5,058 - $7,522 per month
