Highway Maintenance Specialist

The Colorado Department of Transportation has a vacancy for a Highway Maintenance Specialist in Aurora, CO. Total annual compensation for this position is $65,400 ($53,400 base pay and $12,000 housing stipend).
Base pay for this position is $2,053.85 biweekly ($53,400 / annually). This location is also eligible for an additional $1,000 month housing stipend. The annualized hourly rate for this position is $25.68 hour, with an overtime rate of $38.50 / hour. This position may be used to fill a vacancy on our Permanent Water Quality (PWC) Patrol or another position on our specialty crew including the Bridge, Graffiti, or Tree Patrols.

What You Will Do
No two days are exactly the same in CDOT highway maintenance. Your daily work activities change based on project needs and also vary based on weather, environment, and road conditions. The PWQ patrol is responsible for maintaining and inspecting PWQ structures such as extended detention basins, infiltration facilities, inlets / vaults, swales, retention ponds, etc. This patrol works to prevent the discharge of pollutants into streams and waterbodies and ensures compliance with water quality regulations. You will be on-call on a rotating basis as well as subject to call to respond to weather and other emergencies. You will typically work in a team environment, as each maintenance patrol location has at least one lead highway maintenance specialist and multiple highway maintenance specialists.
