Credit Review Officer - Sr.
The Credit Review Officer - Sr. is responsible for evaluating the credit risk embedded in bank assets. The candidate will possess a detailed working knowledge of the methodologies and techniques for performing credit risk review engagements and continuous monitoring activities associated with a strong independent credit review function. Duties and responsibilities include :
Reviewing, analyzing, and assessing individual loans to determine the accuracy and timeliness of obligor risk ratings, the comprehensiveness, quality, and sufficiency of loan origination and credit action underwriting packages, and confirming that obligor profiles are consistent with business segment(s) credit risk appetite, front end guidance, and / or preferred client profile.
Effectively communicating and interfacing with credit review colleagues, business segment and credit support constituent colleagues, and other risk management colleagues.
Reviewing and assessing multiple specialized lending portfolios and large and complex loan relationships.
Independently leading the review of its credit portfolios and credit processes and writing a report of findings.
Providing HBI senior management with a periodic formal report regarding business unit(s) and the quality of the portfolio(s) in terms of the adequacy of portfolio and loan monitoring and management practices, potential emerging risks, notable asset quality directional trends, and an assessment of overall credit risk management practices.
Mentoring, training, and overseeing other credit review colleagues to ensure individual obligor file review observations are comprehensive and accurate.
Responsible for the development of various management and board level committee materials and related coordination.
Assisting in the development of credit review professionals, responsible for identifying and facilitating SME-based training.
Developing and maintaining working relationships with bank management, regulatory agencies, and the broader credit review team in order to effectively and efficiently execute review responsibilities.
Providing senior management with information regarding the identification, measurement, and management of credit risk for assigned business units.
Representing credit review in credit quality, segment risk, and related meetings with business segments.
Managing multiple engagements / projects simultaneously.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Basic qualifications include a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or business, and 10+ years of experience in credit review, risk management, underwriting, and / or analysis.
Preferred qualifications include working knowledge of credit risk management and control frameworks, project management skills, ability to deliver high quality results while meeting deadlines, department and personal goals, working knowledge of MS Access, Excel, Word and credit / statistical analysis tools, experience in capital markets, leveraged lending, counterparty risk, corporate investments, international finance, certification / advanced degree or demonstrated progress toward (i.e. MBA, CPA, Financial Risk Manager), technical accounting (GAAP) or financial statement analysis knowledge, and conflict management experience.

Compensation range : $93,000-$189,000 annually The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan.
