Primary duties include performing basic work using clearly prescribed procedures, responding to customer requests for service including connections and disconnections as operator qualified, informing customers of needed repairs and answering basic questions, ensuring customer satisfaction, disconnecting service as necessary and performing collection efforts on delinquent accounts, installing, programming, and operating wireless meter reading (WMR) equipment as necessary, assisting with activities to ensure responsiveness to natural gas and other emergencies, completing and maintaining accurate records and reports to comply with company and regulatory requirements, and reading meters and recording usage for billing. Other duties may include holding stand-by duty, working shifts, holidays, weekends, emergency call outs, and occasional extended hours, reporting outside regular work area, identifying, addressing, and reporting safety and encroachment issues to their resolution and completion, and demonstrating support for and adherence to the company's values, strategies, policies, and procedures. Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, completion of assigned classes, operator qualifications (OQ) and on-the-job training (OJT) specific to the service learning path, and the ability to utilize the company's internet / intranet web site and available resources for data entry, reference, and retrieval tasks. Work conditions include entry to customer premises, working outdoors in all types of weather, and occasional work on ladders, roofs, attics, and under houses as well as confined spaces. Physical demands include the ability to lift and carry 45 pounds from the ground to 42 inches, lift 53 pounds from the ground to 52 inches, generate 95-foot pounds of force at a contact point of 70 inches, and walk a distance of 500 feet.
