The role :
Austrade in The Americas accelerates the growth of exporters, attracts productive foreign investors, broadens, and deepens commercial ties between the United States and Australia.
We are looking for an experienced business development professional for a role based in San Francisco, California.
This position focuses on attracting productive foreign direct investment (FDI) into Australia, building, and executing on a pipeline of commercial opportunities in sub-sectors deemed high priorities for the Australian Government’s transition to Net Zero.
Priority areas for this will include energy storage and battery manufacturing, emerging renewable technologies, future transportation technologies, hydrogen, and green steel. The role will be responsible for optimising relevant opportunities for FDI and supporting whole of agency strategies and campaigns aimed at these Net Zero sub-sectors.
The successful candidate will possess well-established relationships in the West Coast of the United States and relevant experience in developing new business opportunities resulting in clear commercial outcomes, and a demonstrated commitment to high performance.
Knowledge of industry capabilities and technologies relevant to the Net Zero energy transition, capacity to anticipate related trends and existing relationships in clean energy and clean technology will be highly valued.
Duties include
Promote, identify, target, attract and facilitate productive foreign direct investment from the United States to Australia.
Support the development and delivery of business objectives as outlined for the Net Zero sector in the North Americas Regional Plan.
Identify compelling commercial opportunities to promote Australia as a location for investment and deliver presentations at relevant conferences and business events.
Develop and maintain productive high-level, relevant business networks in the market, representing Austrade at a senior level with companies, government agencies and business groups.
Support visits to the market by government ministers and senior officials through the development of briefing documents and programs to raise the profile of Australian business, investment opportunities and to foster new business linkages.
Supporting major in market activities and initiatives that the San Francisco post is responsible for, including major events and conferences.
Ensure strong working relationships within Austrade, Australian state government and other external stakeholders, such as industry associations, industry leaders and key corporates within priority sectors.
Monitor and assess key business and sectoral trends as well as significant commercial developments in the market.
Apply Austrade business practices and record timely and accurate information in all Austrade Business Systems, to deliver accurate and timely reporting of client interactions, services milestones and outcomes in Austrade's client management system.
Comply with Austrade policies, procedures and practises including diversity in the workplace, ethical practice, occupational health and safety principles amongst others.
