Heavy Equipment Operator I

Under direct supervision, learn how to operate overhead crane or other heavy equipment. Moves material to and from designated areas. Inspects incoming material and fills out necessary paperwork. Conducts daily inspection of equipment. Follows all safety rules and procedures. Maintains a safe and clean work area. Handles special projects, as assigned. Able to demonstrate knowledge of general equipment, maintenance, care and use of safety equipment on each piece of machinery. Understand and demonstrate proper rigging for lifting of material and other equipment, hand signals, spotter responsibility and lesser skilled work. Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions on material paperwork. Good written and oral communication skills. CDL is preferred.

High School Diploma or equivalent. Entry level.
