Ensure that the club meets its fitness programming sales goals and the fitness department meets or exceeds budget goals for revenue while maintaining control of all labor and other costs to meet or exceed profit objectives. Conduct the necessary marketing activities to generate the required number of monthly fitness assessments and complimentary personal training sessions. Through a consultative sales process, ensure the fitness team sells fitness programming to 25–50% of the prospects who attend assessments / complimentary sessions. Ensure that all club members are provided with effective programming, coaching, and support to reach their wellness goals. Ensure that all fitness staff provides an optimal member experience. Work to achieve the goal of completing at least 1 fitness appointment with all new members enrolling.
Qualifications : Certifications :
Education : Preferred B.S. in a health and fitness related field.
Experience : Minimum of 1 year of management and sales experience preferred.
Physical Job Requirements : Job requires lifting of moderate weights on a regular basis.
Primary Functions :
- Ensure the fitness department generates the required number of assessments / complimentary sessions to achieve goals.
- Ensure trainers do not work more than 40 hours per week or 10 hours per day to prevent overtime, and that all fitness staff clock in and out for shifts and breaks.
- Personally clock in and out for all shifts and breaks, do not exceed 50 hours per week without permission.
- Ensure staff between shifts clock out and remove uniforms when not working in the club.
- Keep copies of all trainers’ current certifications for inspection.
- Ensure fitness assessments are conducted with at least 50% of new members.
- Confirm all appointments the previous day.
- Enroll at least 25% of prospects completing assessments or sessions into fee-based programs.
- Oversee staff to ensure a friendly, attentive, and service-oriented approach.
- Personally conduct fitness assessments and training sessions as required.
- Maintain the club’s cleanliness and equipment functionality.
- Reconcile revenue, sessions, commissions, and payroll for fitness staff.
- Conduct ongoing fitness and sales training, ensure certifications including CPR / AED are maintained.
- Communicate regularly with fitness staff about developments affecting members.
- Personally contact new members to welcome them and ensure attendance at assessments and sessions.
- Participate in fitness continuing education.
- Coach and mentor personal trainers, provide ongoing education and regular assessments.
- Update staff schedules and review job descriptions quarterly.
- Conduct semi-annual performance reviews.
- Personally clock in and out for all shifts, including lunch and breaks.
- Ensure all staff maintain appropriate certifications.
- Ensure photos of all new PT clients are taken before and after progress, with client consent, and testimonials obtained. Post photos and testimonials on social media following policies.
