Transit Driver

This position is based in Deming, NM. Under the direction of the Corre Caminos Director or designee, the transit driver is expected to operate buses of various sizes in accordance to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Essential Duties

• Operate assigned bus for the purpose of transporting passengers safely and courteously.
• Obey traffic laws, safety procedures, and transit regulations.
• Follow and adhere to a specific timetable while driving the bus.
• Communicate with dispatch for passenger pick up and drop off locations.
• Assist individuals with physical and / or mental limitations for the purpose of providing access to public transportation, ensuring passenger safety, and providing route and schedule information.
• Inspect buses to insure safe access when boarding and alighting, and as required by law; and report malfunctions and other needed repairs.
• Observe and respond to emergency situations involving passengers, the public, or buses for the purpose of maintaining public / passenger safety, and proper bus operation.
• Will be required to assist with and / or perform duties of other departmental employees.
• May be required to work irregular hours, attend job related meetings, and perform all duties with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
• Applicant must disclose real or perceived conflicts of interest and must abide by the Governmental Conduct Act.
