JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Senior Backend Engineer

About the Role : We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale APIs and services that power our products. You'll lead technical design, ship reliable code, and mentor teammates. This is a unique opportunity to establish a solid technical foundation and influence the direction of our technology stack.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities :

  • Architect, implement, and maintain backend services.
  • Design clean, well-documented REST / GraphQL APIs and data models that serve our web application.
  • Own service reliability including comprehensive testing, observability, performance, and incident response.
  • Collaborate with Product / Design to break down problems and deliver iteratively.
  • Lead code reviews, author technical docs, and mentor engineers.
  • Drive technical decisions on architecture, tooling, and best practices.

Qualifications :

  • 6-8+ years of backend engineering experience in production environments.
  • Strong proficiency in Typescript / Next.js or equivalent experience in Python, Go, Java, etc.
  • Deep experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred, MySQL) including query optimization and schema design.
  • Experience with caching strategies (Redis) and message queuing systems (Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ).
  • Proven track record with cloud platforms (Azure preferred, AWS, GCP) and containerization (Docker preferred, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with CI / CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.
  • Experience designing secure APIs and with service reliance patterns.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with real-time communication / WebSockets.
  • Takes initiative and drives projects from conception to completion.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Background in investment management or multifamily real estate.

    Additional Compensation :

    Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including business requirements, prior experience, current skills and geographical location.

  • Corporate Positions : In addition to the base salary, this role may be eligible to participate in a quarterly or annual bonus program based on individual and company performance.
  • Onsite Property Positions : In addition to the base salary, this role may be eligible to participate in weekly, monthly, and / or quarterly bonus programs.
