About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Shift : 12 Hour Days, Rotating Weekends and Holidays

Hours per Shift : 36 hours per week

Certifications : BLS

Must-Have :

Experience with orthopedic patients.

Experience with PCA pumps.

Description :

This unit features 33 private rooms.

The nurse-patient ratio is 1 to 6.

The unit sees a variety of elective surgeries including hips, knees, and shoulders.

Patients may also include those with fractures from falls and neuro-surgeries.

General medical-surgical experience is also necessary.

There will be a Charge Nurse on duty at all times.

Day Charge Nurses may take patients if needed.

Night Charge Nurses will always have a full patient assignment.

Patient Care Techs provide support with vital signs, activities of daily living, and can remove Foley catheters.

Respiratory equipment, such as CPAP and BiPAP, can be managed as needed.

Remote telemetry support is available, monitored from another floor.

Registered Nurses are not required to read telemetry strips.

Shifts run from 0700-1930 and 1900-0730 with a half-hour lunch break.

Permanent staff will utilize self-scheduling.

Traveling staff may be scheduled according to unit needs.

Block scheduling may be accommodated to meet the unit's requirements.

Every-other-weekend coverage is required, with specific weekend shifts designated for days and nights.

Holiday work may be required based on unit needs.

Travel staff may be called off for low census based on contract terms.

Floating is required to any medical-surgical units as necessary.

Scrub color is designated as royal blue, with specific guidelines regarding jackets.

One day of orientation will include EPIC training and one day on the unit with a preceptor.

Registered Nurses will work independently after initial orientation.
