Job Summary
The Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Surgical Technician performs duties as a surgical technician in all areas, with primary focus on Cardiothoracic Surgery . This role requires proficiency in handling complex cardiovascular cases and maintaining a sterile environment while supporting the surgical team.
Responsibilities
Perform duties as a scrub tech with a focus on cardiothoracic and cardiovascular surgeries.Assess and prepare necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies for each procedure.Provide surgical support including room setup, sterile field management, and specimen handling.Assist the surgical team with gowning, gloving, and passing instruments during procedures.Maintain a clean, safe, and organized sterile field at all times.Perform and document surgical counts accurately.Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization post-procedure.Participate in room cleaning and turnover between surgeries.Experience Requirements
Must be highly proficient in complex cardiovascular and thoracic cases .Level 1 or Level 2 Trauma Center or Teaching Hospital experience preferred.Experience with cardiac surgery centers (including heart transplants, valve replacements, CABG) required.No first-time travelers unless they have 2+ years of experience in CVOR.Certifications
BLS – RequiredACLS – Required for Cardiac RNsGraduation from an accredited surgical technology program required; certification preferred but not mandatory.Additional Information
Scrub color provided; must be professionally dressed entering and exiting the hospital.Department orientation provided (2–3 shifts with preceptor, depending on assignment area).Daily supervision by unit supervisor (7 AM – 3 PM) and manager support available.Job ID : T4H - 914
