About The Position

Description :

The unit has 26 beds with a patient ratio of 2 : 1.

Staffing consists of registered nurses and a unit secretary.

Total care is provided by registered nurses.

Equipment includes ventilators, Alaris IV pumps, balloon pumps, ventriculostomy drains, and glucometers.

Technology in use includes iMobile phones.

Personal protective equipment includes masks, face shields, goggles, PAPR suits, and hoods for COVID-19 patients.

Documentation is done using a clinical documentation system.

Nursing shifts are 12 hours, from 7 PM to 7 AM, with every other weekend required.

Holiday requirements are also in place.

Floating policy allows nursing staff to assist in other Medical-Surgical Units as needed.

Patient experience requirements include hourly rounding, bedside hand-off reporting, and the use of a specific communication framework.

The unit is certified for excellence and is working towards an advanced recognition status.

It is also a certified stroke center and a level II trauma center.

Advanced skills required include ventilator management, critical care drip knowledge, and thorough assessment skills.

Procedures performed include intubations, cardioversions, and the management of critical care therapies.

Uniform requirements include ceil blue scrubs with optional scrub jackets.

Recognitions for the unit include being a top-ranking ICU for quality measures.

Many staff members are nationally certified, and the unit offers self-scheduling within guidelines.

This unit cares for ICU COVID-19 patients.
