Position Overview :

This position plans, develops, coordinates, and directs a large-scale food services program for the Department of Juvenile Justice at the Illinois Youth Center Lincoln (Monarch) facility and is under administrative direction from the Assistant Superintendent of Operations. This position serves as full line supervisor, plans, schedules, and publishes all menus for general and / or special diets, directs initiation and maintenance of proper and healthy sanitation and safety standards, and prepares reports (daily, weekly, monthly, annually) regarding food cost. Essential Functions :

• Plans, develops, coordinates, and directs all phases of the food services program for the facility
• Serves as working supervisor
• Plans, schedules, and publishes all menus for general and / or special diets
• Coordinates food storage and menu needs
• Prepares reports (daily, weekly, monthly, annually) regarding food costs, food types, quantities, numbers, etc.
• Serves as Duty Administrative Officer for dietary
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

The mission of the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice (IDJJ) is to build youth skills and strengthen families by promoting community safety and positive youth outcomes. Over 900 staff members from across various departments—security, programming, education, mental health, and more—collaborate with the understanding that youth are physically, emotionally, and cognitively different from adults. The department provides extensive services to young people through a developmental, treatment-focused model of care that builds youth resiliency, engages families, and promotes community safety at the five youth facilities it operates across the state. IDJJ serves and houses approximately 150 youth and is responsible for approximately 500 youth on Aftercare in various Illinois' communities.
