The Advanced Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in delivering compassionate care to patients under the guidance of physicians and nursing staff. This position requires timely and accurate documentation in accordance with healthcare policies and demonstrates proficiency in unit-specific competencies, policies, and procedures.
Essential Responsibilities :
- Provide patient care across all age groups, from newborns to geriatrics, to support optimal health outcomes.
- Adhere to privacy and security regulations protecting patient health information.
- Maintain professional communication and collaborative relationships with patients, families, healthcare teams, and external agencies.
- Complete other duties as assigned to support unit operations.
Education and Experience :
Certification as a Medical Assistant (MA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Home Health Aide (HHA) within the relevant state or equivalent experience such as early nursing education.Licenses and Certifications :
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification from an approved provider within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation.Successful completion of on-the-job training in sterile technique, sterile field maintenance, instrument care, EKG, and phlebotomy.Preferred Qualifications :
Previous experience in a medical environment.Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) certification (ASCP) is a plus.Skills and Abilities :
Basic to moderate computer skills, including telesitter technology.Effective communication and medical terminology knowledge.Ability to remain calm under pressure and demonstrate empathy in patient care.Physical Requirements : This role involves very heavy work, occasionally lifting over 100 lbs and frequently lifting up to 50 lbs. The position requires standing or walking for 75-100% of the workday, with or without accommodation.
