Position Summary

The Mt Airy Church of God in Christ is seeking a General Maintenance Worker. Responsibilities include a variety of maintenance activities as well as general janitorial support, repair, and upkeep tasks to ensure that church facilities, equipment, and grounds remain safe. This role requires versatility, attention to detail, and the ability to

troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently. A minimum of one year of experience is required.

Key Responsibilities Include :

  • Perform routine inspections of buildings, facilities, and equipment to identify maintenance needs.
  • Carry out minor repairs, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting tasks.
  • Maintain HVAC systems by replacing filters, cleaning components, and reporting larger

    • issues to specialists.

  • Assemble, move, or repair furniture, fixtures, and equipment as needed.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and prolong equipment life.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
  • Ensure safety standards and building codes are met in all maintenance activities.
  • Monitor inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Assist with groundskeeping tasks, such as light landscaping, snow removal, or debris cleanup.
  • Collaborate with outside vendors and contractors when specialized repairs are required.
  • Document completed work and maintain maintenance logs.

    • Qualifications

    A high school diploma or equivalent is required; technical training or certifications are a plus.

    Proven experience in general maintenance, facilities, or a similar role.

    Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry systems.

    Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and basic maintenance equipment safely.

    Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

    Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.

    Physical stamina to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing

    ladders, and standing for extended periods.

    Work Schedule : Part-time; occasional evenings or weekends may be required for
