We are seeking a part-time Opportunity Coach for Passaic County Community College's Passaic-Ramapo Onramp to Student Persistence & Employment Readiness (PROSPER) program. This person will be responsible for actively promoting the various programming offered by PCCC's PROSPER program to currently enrolled PCCC students and recently graduated PCCC alumni and then connecting interested individuals to PROSPER team members and PCCC departments, as appropriate. The PROSPER programming will include, but not be limited to, 3+1 academic options, micro-internships, and Academic Year 2025-2026 Leadership Training and Hands-On Math / Science Training programs. The part-time Opportunity Coach will report to the Project Director.
Example of Duties :
- Actively promote across the College (currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff) and to recent alumni, as appropriate, PROSPER initiatives including 3+1 academic options, micro-internships, and Academic Year 2025-2026 Leadership Training and Hands-On Math / Science Training programs.
- Conduct targeted outreach (phone calls, emails, texts, event attendance, tabling) to PCCC students and alumni, who are eligible to participate in programming facilitated by the PROSPER program.
- Provide success coaching, which includes referring and connecting individuals to on- and off- campus support services and resources that will address their unique needs, to PCCC students and alumni who participate in PROSPER programming and follow-up when necessary to ensure successful hand-off to other PROSPER team members, staff in PCCC departments, and revelant staff at 3+1 PCCC partner institutions.
- Maintain up-to-date project-specific data and records related to conducted outreah, meeting notes of all coaching sessions held, and individuals who have expressed interest in participating in each PROSPER initiative.
- Recruit currently enrolled PCCC PROSPER students to serve as program ambassadors and students at 3+1 PCCC partner institutions to serve as mentors and provide support, as needed.
- Supplement the PROSPER team, as needed, to assist students with career readiness and transfer (3+1) workshops, activities, and campus tours.
- Serve on the Project Management Team, attend team meetings, and provide accurate data / information upon request.
- Participate in project evaluation and sustainability planning / institutionalization of activities.
Qualification :
Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Education, or related field required; Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Education, or related field preferredTwo (2) or more years of work experience in an academic setting or a counseling setting working with underserved students or clients preferredBilingual in English and another high-need language (e.g. Spanish) preferredExcellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills requiredKnowledge of or ability and commitment to learn how to read, interpret, and explain degree audits.Proven ability to work both independently and in diverse teams.Experience working on grant-funding projects a plus.Ability to work some evenings and weekends, as program requires.The completion of a background check will be required by the selected candidate.
Compensation : Compensation is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The minimum hourly pay for this position is $25.
