Summary
The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System is recruiting for two well‑trained, energetic Physicians (Urology) who are board certified or board eligible in Urology with DaVinci Robotic training and experience. The Urologists will work full‑time for the Surgical Care Services and provide evaluation and treatment of urological conditions. Qualifications
To qualify for this position you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.
Basic Requirements
- United States Citizenship : Non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy
- Education : Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree in medicine or osteopathic medicine from a school approved by the VA for the year in which the course of study was completed
- License and Registration : Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth or District of Columbia
- Residency Training : Completed residency in Urology approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs leading to eligibility for board certification (ACGME, AOA or other approved programs with at least five years of verified U.S. practice)
- Residents in accredited residency training programs who meet other basic requirements may be appointed as “Physician Resident Providers” (PRPs) and must be fully licensed physicians. PRPs may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee‑basis and are not independent practitioners.
- English Language Proficiency : Proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d)

- Physical Requirements : Must pass a pre‑employment physical examination as required by VA Handbook 5019 administered by VA Occupational Health. This position requires light to moderate lifting (15‑44 lbs.), light carrying (15 lbs. and under), reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, both hands required, walking (up to 2 hrs), standing (up to 2 hrs), kneeling (up to 1 hr), rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously, near vision correctable at 13‑16
