Status: Full-time or part-time available, hourly, non-exempt. Full-time 36 hours per week (three 12-hour shifts per week) OR part-time 24 hours per week (three 8-hour shifts per week).
Schedule: Rotating weekly schedule working Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, then rotate and work Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays the following week (repeat schedule). Shift start time to be determined by Clinical Supervisor. Work outside of these days/hours may be required.
Pay: $20.00-24.00 per hour, based on experience.
Location: Hospice House in Bend, Oregon.

Summary/Objective: The Environmental Services Specialist/Housekeeper is responsible for the facility's cleanliness and sanitation. Assists the Hospice House team with patient care, prepares meals, cleans patient rooms, clinical, public areas, and orders chemicals, dietary, and other supplies.

Essential Functions:

• Responsible for ordering and maintaining cleaning chemical supplies.
• Responsible for ordering, management, and stocking of supplies and groceries for Hospice House.
• Responsible for ordering all linens, patient gowns, and bed pans and for working with vendor to ensure that linen supplies are adequate.
• Ensures kitchen and entire dietary department area is cleaned, as needed. Washes all utensils and dishes used in food preparation after each meal.
• Cleans patient rooms, bathrooms, medication room and all Hospice House public areas daily.
• Washes in-house linens and patients personal laundry.
• Cleans patient rooms, beds, furniture, cabinets, high-touch surfaces and restrooms upon discharge of patient.
• Ensures patient rooms, clinical and public areas are tidied to maintain a clean welcoming environment.
• Responsible for preparation of meals for patients upon request.
• Removes all trash from facility daily.
• Stocks and re-supplies patients rooms on an ongoing basis and upon discharge.
• Assist co-workers and others, as needed.
• Helps, when necessary, by performing other related duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or manager.
• Maintains strict confidentiality of patient and family information.
• Provides for a safe environment for patients, guests, visitors, and employees.
• Keeps abreast of changes and trends by attending all mandatory in services and participates in staff meetings as designated by manager.
• Understands and adheres to the Facilitys Mission and policies and procedures and advocates its philosophy.
• Adheres to all policies, procedures and regulations regarding patient care, conduct, safety, fire, security, and risk management.
• Provides excellent customer service to all patients/ families/caregivers, co-workers, vendors, and physicians.
• Carries out duties and responsibilities of position in a manner that exemplifies excellent customer service.
• Consistently represents the facility to all internal and external customers with integrity and professionalism.
• Communicates all necessary information to supervisor and/or manager.
• Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations in all aspects of the role, maintaining confidentiality, privacy, and security of protected health information (PHI) at all times.

Work Environment:

• May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases. Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances.
• May be exposed to/occasionally exposed to patient elements. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations.
• Handles emergency or crisis situations.
• OSHA exposure category 1: Position includes tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues.
• Required Personal Protective Equipment as conditions warrant: Gloves, gown, mask, mask with shield, goggles, shoe covers, bouffant cap.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• One year of experience in institutional maintenance.
• Experience preparing meals for others, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Ability to pass a background test, drug screen, and TB test.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Valid CPR Certification.
• Oregon Food Handlers Certification.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
