Job Title: Data Modeler
Location: Long Beach, CA (Preferred) - Remote acceptable

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Data Modeler to support enterprise data initiatives for a major healthcare payer, with heavy emphasis on Medicare Advantage and core payer operational systems. The ideal candidate possesses strong data modeling expertise, a deep understanding of modern cloud-based data architectures, and the ability to translate business needs into scalable, high-quality data solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain logical and physical data models for enterprise systems.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to convert business requirements into scalable data structures.

• Ensure data integrity, normalization, optimization, and overall model quality.

• Partner with ETL developers and data engineers to implement models in data warehouses, EDH, and data lakes.

• Document data dictionaries, metadata, relationships, and business rules per enterprise standards.

• Support data governance, privacy, and compliance requirements (PHI/PII).

• Perform data profiling, assess data quality, and define DQ rules and transformation logic.

Required Skills:

• + years in data modeling, data architecture, or database design.

• Hands-on experience with ERwin, PowerDesigner, or similar modeling tools.

• Strong SQL skills (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).

• Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, normalization, relational data structures, and data warehousing.

• Experience with Azure Cloud, Data Lakes, and Enterprise Data Hubs.

• Strong ability to convert business requirements into technical specifications.

• Knowledge of API data formats (JSON, XML).

• Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with healthcare payer data (claims, provider, member).

• Background in data governance and MDM.

• Expertise in performance tuning and optimisation.
