Principal Responsibilities And Accountabilities
- Responsible for implementation and administration of the Environmental Health and Safety Program by all company federal, state, and air station directives, regulations, and laws.
- Reports directly to the Quality Manager on all matters.
- Develop and monitor safety, and hazardous waste management programs to comply with federal, state, and military; develop programs to comply with the above requirements in the absence of pre-existing programs.
- Act as liaison with representatives of Base Safety, Fire Department, OSHA, and other government organizations.
- Possess knowledge of the Navy Fire Warden Program.
- Designated as Site Fire Warden Point Coordinator with responsibilities for :
Provision, access and maintenance of waste storage and chemical storage areas.
Routine inspection of all fire bottles and contractor held facilities.Post Fire Bill(s) and emergency information in conspicuous places; post Fire Wardens name and telephone number on unit bulletin boards.Observe evacuation during emergencies and ensure unassigned personnel are instructed to exit safely; complete required training.Ensure buildings are numbered with facility numbers visible from multiple directions; coordinate with Public Works as needed.Assist the Fire Inspector during inspections and represent the company during various inspections; recommend corrective action for discrepancies.Monitor safety trends and construction projects to recognize hazards and recommend corrective actions.Formulate recommendations to management to justify additional or replacement tools, equipment, procedures, and training requirements to ensure safety and quality.Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop or modify safety equipment; conduct work site surveys and daily facility inspections for regulatory compliance.Maintain records and reports applicable to safety and hazardous waste programs; manage the Respiratory Protection Program; coordinate PPE use and availability.Monitor investigations of incidents / accidents and recommend corrective actions; investigate safety concerns and employee complaints.Determine medical surveillance requirements and coordinate and track physical exams, hearing evaluations, audiometric testing, and reporting requirements.Represent the company at customer safety meetings; coordinate the local Company Safety Committee and publish meeting minutes and daily safety briefings.Assist in developing the Chemical Waste Program, local Maintenance Instructions, and communications detailing waste management procedures to work centers.Interface with base Public Works engineers and Government Contracts Monitoring Team to resolve waste management issues.Maintain knowledge of complex regulations including OSHA, Hazardous Waste Management, RCRA, Spill Prevention, Storm Water, and related requirements.Designated as On-Site Accumulation Point Coordinator with responsibilities for :Waste and chemical storage maintenance and inspections; disposal documentation.
Proper labeling, marking, and sealing of chemical waste containers; determine required safety equipment; manage a Spill Contingency Plan.Maintain records such as Chemical Waste Logs, Inspection Reports, Inventories, and Safety Data Sheets.Assist in waste program development and accompany government personnel during facility visits.Monitor waste preparation, disposal training, and personnel involved.Assist in reviewing and developing maintenance instructions and quality procedures; maintain safety bulletin boards.Periodically monitor aircraft move crew in hangars; ensure compliance with government instructions, manuals, and procedures related to aircraft assignments for scheduled missions.Maintain cleanliness of work areas; comply with General and Industrial Safety Rules; document work using government / company information systems.Support safety, security, inventory, and preservation of equipment; ensure alignment with Maintenance / Work Instructions and company policies.Provide data for Government CDRLs (reports) as required by the contract; require knowledge of COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2, OPNAV 3750, ISO, FAR, Navy Instructions; operate office equipment.Enforce Tool Control and FOD Prevention programs; ensure compliance with company and government regulations for safety and equipment.Performs other position-related duties and projects as assigned; maintain high ethical, personal, and professional standards.Position Scope and Charter
Must show a certificate of satisfactory completion of U.S. Armed Forces Hazardous Waste courses or equivalent on-the-job training / experience.Must maintain working knowledge of complex regulations including Hazardous Waste Management and OSHA requirements.Must possess or complete course A-493-0072 for Respiratory Protection Program Manager.GSE licensing as required; airfield operator license as required; valid state operator license; ability to obtain / maintain DoD security clearance.Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work weekends / overtime as required.Ability to develop professional relationships with management, peers, vendors, subcontractors, and customers; maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.Limited travel may be required.Physical Requirements
Ability to work in office, hangar, flight line, and warehouse environments; ability to walk long distances, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds; tolerate extreme temperatures and noise; operate near moving parts and aircraft; perform tasks requiring close visual acuity.Benefits
