BWXT is seeking a high-impact Director of Quality to lead all Quality Assurance and Quality Control efforts for this greenfield uranium enrichment and centrifuge manufacturing operation. This experienced leader will play a foundational role in building a fully compliant, high-reliability quality program from the ground upone that meets stringent nuclear and regulatory standards, including those of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).

Location : On-site in Oak Ridge, TN

Your Day to Day as the Director of Quality :

Quality Strategy & Execution :

  • Design and implement the enterprise-wide quality strategy aligned with nuclear-grade manufacturing and enrichment operations.

Startup Execution :

  • Establish quality systems, infrastructure, and governance for a new facilityfrom initial setup through production scale-up.
  • Regulatory & Licensing Interface :

  • Lead Quality's interface with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and support licensing efforts by providing QA inputs and ensuring alignment with NRC quality-related requirements.
  • Enrichment Experience Application :

  • Apply firsthand experience from previous uranium enrichment operations to guide the development of QA / QC practices specific to gas centrifuge or related technologies.
  • Audit & Compliance :

  • Lead internal audits and support external inspections; maintain compliance with NQA-1, 10 CFR Part 70, 10 CFR Part 50 / 52, and DOE / NRC standards.
  • Team Development :

  • Build and lead a robust Quality organization, including QA, QC, Supplier Quality, and Nuclear Licensing support functions.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership :

  • Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Licensing, EH&S, and Supply Chain to embed quality across all business processes.
  • Continuous Improvement :

  • Drive a culture of quality, safety, and operational excellence using Lean, Six Sigma, and best-in-class practices.
  • Required Qualifications :

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in Quality Assurance / Quality Control within the nuclear, enrichment, defense, or a highly regulated energy sector.
  • 5+ years in senior leadership roles overseeing QA / QC in nuclear or enrichment environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Direct experience with uranium enrichment processes (e.g., gas centrifuge) and associated manufacturing quality practices is required.
  • Strong understanding of NRC licensing requirements and experience supporting or leading quality-related aspects of licensing submissions and inspections.
  • Deep knowledge of NQA-1, 10 CFR regulations, ISO 9001, and quality programs in NRC-licensed facilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in startup or greenfield environments.
  • Ability to report to an assigned work location. This is not a remote opportunity.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (active clearance strongly preferred).
