Veterinary Assistant Opportunity
VCA Aurora Animal Hospital has an opportunity for a Veterinary Assistant to join our Neurology Service. Compensation : Pay range is $19 - $23 / hr based on experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, and other relevant credentials. Location : 2600 West Galena Blvd. Aurora, IL 60506. Schedule : Full-time opportunity, 4 x 10 hour weekday shifts.
Position Overview : As a Surgery Veterinary Assistant, you'll be an essential part of our specialized team, working closely with our Surgeon to deliver outstanding care to patients with complex neurological conditions.
Responsibilities : As a member of the VCA Aurora Surgery team, the skills that will be utilized include, but are not limited to assisting doctors and Veterinary Technicians in :
- Examinations and diagnostic procedures such as radiographs.
- Complete pre-operative anesthesia planning.
- Provide pre-operative patient assessments, IVC, administer medications as directed, intubation, and assist in post-operative recovery and care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of surgical procedures, anesthesia protocols, and patient vitals.
- Client education and communication.
- Perform or be trained in safe practice of locoregional anesthesia technique, arterial catheterization, and CPCR.
- Collaborate effectively with all departments to ensure seamless patient care.
Qualifications : 2+ years of clinical experience. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
