We are hiring for a full time Maintenance Technician for a governmental building in the north Denver / Aurora area. These positions offer the initial benefits of weekly and electronic pay, accrued sick leave, and retirement deduction plan but can go internal to offer an even wider range of benefits to include, but not limited to : holiday & vacation pay, health / dental / vision insurance, retirement savings, tuition benefits and much more!

Shift : 1st shift hours Monday - Friday

Pay : $21.00 - $25.00 / hr plus DOE

SUMMARY :

A Building Proctor functions as a liaison between a campus building, its occupants, and the Facilities Management department. Proctors serve as contacts for work requests, maintenance issues, and emergencies, and are responsible for advising and disseminating information to building occupants.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Two years of progressively responsible pipe and / or mechanical trades experience related to HVAC, electrical, mechanical or plumbing.

Substitution : Successful completion of a formalized plumbing, pipefitting, steamfitting, or heating, ventilation and air conditioning apprenticeship program, or higher level, non-correspondence course work in the same fields from an accredited vocational school or university may substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

Experience and familiarity with computers.

Experience fixing and maintaining equipment and machinery.

Experience in keeping activity logs.

Experience in heating, ventilation and air conditioning.

Competencies / Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with persons of diverse backgrounds.

Strong customer service skills.

Excellent oral communication skills with the ability to handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.

Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form which includes the ability to check for typographical, grammatical, and spelling errors in English.

Mechanical Ability.

Physical Ability.

Planning and organization skills.

Knowledge of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.

Conditions of Employment / Necessary Special Qualifications :

Must be a resident of the state of Colorado at the time of application.

Must possess and maintain a current, valid State of Colorado Driver’s License.

Must be willing and able to pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle check, and drug test.

Must be willing and able to stand and walk on a constant basis, climb, crawl, kneel, bend and reach above shoulders on a frequent basis, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, push and pull, repetitious hand / wrist / elbow / arm / shoulder movement, etc.

Must be willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions including snow, rain, heat, cold, and with chemicals / solvents.

Must be willing and able to work in areas where you may be exposed to hazardous chemicals or infectious materials.

Must be willing and able to operate moving equipment and work around machinery or moving equipment.

Must be willing and able to work around noise / vibrations.

Must be willing and able to work alone, above ground and in small confined spaces.

Must be willing and able to walk on uneven surfaces and climb on scaffolds / ladders.

Must be willing and able to work straight or rotating shifts, weekends and holidays.
