The Mental Health Unit at Bartlett Regional Hospital is a 12 bed unit providing inpatient psychiatric treatment for adults 18 and older in Juneau, Southeast Alaska, and the greater Alaskan community. This unit is for the short-term assessment and treatment of all types of mental health emergencies in a secure and serene environment. We rely on a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, trained nursing staff, case managers, therapists, and behavioral health assistants to evaluate and treat all of our patients using an individualized treatment approach.

Job Summary :

RN II's independently plan and implement routine nursing care in using standards and knowledge obtained during education and preceptorship. RN II's begin to assume leadership responsibility and needs minimal supervision. An RN II has the ability to use accurate, clear, and concise oral and written communication. RN II's will work as a team and maintain effective working relationships, use critical thinking skills, analyze, and communicate findings effectively. Incumbents require a basic computer literacy and the ability to effectively learn new software programs is required, as well as the ability to efficiently operate a variety of automated office equipment such as print / copy / scan / fax machines / calculators / etc.

Minimum Qualification Requirements :

Registered Nurse II :

• License(s) : Current State of Alaska Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Certification(s) : Reference Mandatory Education for Clinical and Support Staff Policy for most current Certification requirements.
• Experience : Advancement from an RN I or at least one (1) year, continuous experience in a comparable patient care setting. RNs must remain at this level for a minimum of one year before applying for advancement. Note : Reference Clinical Ladder Policy and Clinical Ladder Portfolio Guide for promotion requirements

Registered Nurse III :

Proficient clinical competency in primary specialty and a minimum of experience in one (1) float area required when promoting.

Internal Hires : Pay rate will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms.

External Hires : Registered Nurse II starts at $42.81 per hour. Registered Nurse III starts at $44.94 per hour. Step placement and rate of pay will be determined based upon relevant experience.
