Salary Range : $82, 500 – $115,500

Director of Education, Sports, and Arts

The Director of Education, Sports, and Arts is responsible for coordinating with local school superintendents, principals and other school administrators to develop an educational curriculum focusing on an increase in the academic area of literacy, STEM, personal development and practical living skills. Plans, develops and oversees community sports programs for Bessemer Housing Authority residents. Promotes sports awareness through community outreach. Supervise, train and support assigned staff and volunteers, develop, plan and implement procedures, systems and methods to promote program growth, safety, and unity through participation and facility excellence.

Minimum Qualifications

• Possession of a degree in Human Services, Social and Behavioral Science, Marketing, Education, or related field and with work experience in operations, education and recreation with five years of supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of computers and software applications related to education, sports and recreation.
• Valid Alabama driver's license.
• Experience designing and overseeing recreation programs and activities to include senior programs, youth sports, community events, and sports leagues.
• Experience in tracking operating expenses, administering operating budgets, assisting with contract bids, and equipment procurement.
• Sensory and Inclusion First Responder Certification.
• Maintain CPR, AED and First Aid certifications.
• Must be available for meetings or activities outside regular work hours including overnight travel.
