Applications Engineering Manager
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Applications Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team of solution architects and engineers focused on delivering innovative, reliable, and scalable solutions. This leadership role requires strong technical expertise, people management skills, and a customer-focused mindset to ensure seamless integration of our technologies into client systems and workflows.
The Day to Day :
- Partner with product management, sales, support, and core engineering to define application requirements and customer needs.
- Lead the proposal preparation and contribute to the financial estimate together with Sales and R&D
- Serve as a technical liaison with customers and internal stakeholders, translating business requirements into functional solutions.
- Provide insights and feedback to influence product roadmap and feature development.
- Work directly with clients to understand their environment and recommend integration strategies.
- Support pre-sales activities, proof-of-concepts (POCs), and post-deployment technical troubleshooting as needed.
- Advocate for the voice of the customer within engineering and product roadmap discussions.
- Seen as a respected technical expert for assigned Business line and is expected to work closely with current and prospective customers.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of applications engineers, fostering growth in both technical and soft skills.
- Establish clear goals, conduct regular performance reviews, and promote a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Manage application engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and technical quality.
- Oversee solution design, prototyping, validation, and customer deployment in coordination with product and engineering teams.
- Ensure best practices in pre-sales support, RFQ / RFP support, product demonstrations, product training (internal and external), 2nd tier product technical support, product requirements development and reviews, trade show support, and conference / webinar presentations.
What you bring to Safran :
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.7+ years of experience in applications engineering, technical solutions, or software engineering.3+ years in a people management or technical leadership role.Experience working with international teams and customers exhibiting sensitivity to regional requirements and customs.Knowledge of system architecture, integration methodologies, and customer onboarding strategies.Proficient in-service offerings, selling and pricing services based on custom needsStrong communication and stakeholder management skills.Preferred
Experience in industries such as aerospace, position navigation and timing, networking and / or communications.Familiarity with tools and technologies such as Python, C / C++, Linux, cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP), and DevOps practices.Hand-on experience with ERP systems and CRM tools such as Oracle, SAP, MS Dynamics 365, SFDC, Zendesk and ZohoProven experience working with complex systems in embedded, hardware / software, or enterprise environments.
