Schneider Downs has a long history of advising auto dealerships on tax advisory matters. Our Automotive Services industry group is composed of tax professionals trained to address matters facing our clients. As a Tax Manager – Dealership , you will provide tax consulting and compliance services, and oversee all aspects of the tax planning, preparation and review process for tax engagements. You will have an understanding of automotive operations including by department and back office of the dealership. Internally, you will manage engagement economics and provide technical and leadership development to the tax team.
What You'll Do
- Maintain and develop strong client relationships on various tax consulting and compliance engagements
- Manage engagement workflow, engagement team resources and engagement billing
- Collaborate with other practice units to provide industry knowledge and insight to clients in a variety of industries
- Review engagement profitability and prepare and analyze monthly billing for assigned engagements
- Review tax returns prepared by staff and make recommendations for accuracy and tax savings opportunities
- Research and analyze a wide range of tax issues and tax implications
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills and working knowledge of accounting and tax software
- Provide leadership, counseling and career guidance for the development and motivation of the engagement team
- Represent the firm and build relationships by attending professional events and meetings as appropriate
- Collaborate on internal initiatives that promote firm growth, culture, technical tax content development and technological advances
- Stay informed of current and proposed tax legislation and communicate potential impacts to clients
What You'll Need
CPA, J.D., LL.M or Masters in TaxationMinimum of five years of public accounting experience in taxExperience managing compliance and consulting engagements for clients in the automotive / dealership industry, or strong pass-through experience with willingness to learn a new industryAbility to develop business and foster client relationshipsStrong leadership, training and mentoring skillsExcellent writing, communication and tax research skillsCulture and Benefits
