Certified Scaffold Journeyman
Wood is recruiting experienced Certified Scaffold Journeymen for our project in Houston, TX. Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required.
Responsibilities
The scaffold journeyman builds, positions, and dismantles scaffold structures from wood, steel frames, and steel poles according to sketches, blueprints, manufacturers instructions, and or company standards. Will work with civil crew when not performing scaffold duties. A valid driver's license is required to operate any motorized vehicle on the client's property. Examines, selects, and gathers materials and tools. Examines blueprints and specifications to determine dimensions of structure. Inspects base surface for obstructions. Loads, transports, and unloads material. Measures boards, timbers, or plywood, using square, measuring tape, and ruler, and marks cutting lines on materials using pencil and scriber. Saws boards and plywood panels to required sizes. Uses carpentry hand tools such as hammers, levels, squares, screwdrivers, adjustable wrenches, hand and power saws, drill motors, and pry bars. Assembles scaffold containing handrails, mid rails, braces, planks, and toe boards. Uses effective verbal and written communication skills. Be capable of listening and communicating with other supervision and employees. Be motivated and work safely and productively. Understand and respond accordingly to all safety alerts, warnings, hazards, etc. Additional duties as required.
Qualifications
2-3 years of journeyman experience in craft. The employee must be able to use standard and/or metric rule to measure. Demonstrate ability to use whole numbers, fractions, and decimals to add, subtract, multiply, and divide and be able to accurately follow instructions. Equipment selection - determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job. Ability to calculate the amount of material needed to erect a specific scaffold from the instructions given. Ability to figure materials for several different designs of scaffold. Ability to read measuring tapes, and to understand the use of levels. Ability to read and understand methods and procedures that represent on drawings, layout work, and just specification. Work in a safe and productive manner. Be able to work at heights without fear.
