We are currently searching for an experienced Bridge Engineer to support our Southeast Region located in Atlanta, GA

What You'll Be Doing

  • Perform the routine aspects of assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles
  • Projects may include design and repair of highway bridges and retaining walls, bridge load ratings, review of working drawings and cost estimating
  • Analyze structures using various structural engineering software programs
  • Prepare or check structural calculations and details of structural elements for various materials, predominantly steel and concrete
  • Prepare structural drawings in Open Bridge, MicroStation and AutoCAD
  • Coordinate with other disciplines such as roadway and drainage to perform checks of documents for conformance to structural drawings
  • Work as part of our Structures Team

What You Need To Have

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 - 10 years of engineering experience in bridge design
  • Recent experience in steel and / or concrete bridge design
  • PE required
  • GDOT experience preferred
  • Familiarity with bridge design and analysis software such as Open Bridge and / or Leap Bridge, CSI Bridge, AASHTO BrR, other bridge analysis software
  • Experience with preparing drawings in Open Bridge, Microstation, and / or AutoCAD
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).
