At Mahaska Health a Clinical Informaticist is to utilize process improvement and change management skills to promote improved quality and process efficiencies through technology. Consider the impact of technological changes on patient safety, health-care delivery, quality reporting and the nursing process. Assists with the design and promotion of useful, innovative information technologies that advance practice and achieve desired outcomes.
Essential job responsibilities include but are not limited to,
- Serves as the bridge between technology and clinical teams. Is the site-based “expert” on clinic functionality and suggested workflows. Partners with providers and clinicians to implement and learn new systems or process changes for achieving positive health care outcomes; to learn new applications and provide solutions to system or workflow issues; to troubleshoot system and workflow issues; and to ensure preparation for downtime.
- Communicates electric medical record (EMR) changes to providers and clinicians. Communicates educational EMR opportunities. Assists with coordinating EMR optimization opportunities with department leaders.
- Serves as the champion for provider and clinician EMR optimization needs by submitting and ensuring due diligence of EMR enhancement requests; by partnering with corporate informaticist and host analysts in testing builds, troubleshooting, issue resolution; and submitting and managing general service requests, data delivery requests, security requests, and BOR requests.
- Submit and manage security requests for Epic access for all EHR users.
- Troubleshoot system malfunctions or workflow issues.
- Analyze data to identify clinical trends.
- Analyzing and leveraging collected data.
- Respond to reporting requests.
- Reviewing existing systems / workflows and suggest improvements.
- Act as a relationship owner between Mahaska Health and corporate informatics / analyst staff at EMR host organization.
- Educate staff on correct procedures of new implementations.
- Act as an escalation point for CTs within the organization.
Job Requirements include but are not limited to,
Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Health Information Management, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.Certification in Health Informatics (e.g., CPHIMS, CAHIMS) is a plus.3-5 years of clinical or relevant experience required.Previous experience in data systems is preferred.Will be required to show proof of having completed Mandatory Reporter course at the time of hire or attend within 6 months of the start date.Must adhere to all training requirements as mandated by Federal, State, and Professional licensure and regulatory standards.Understand and comply with the requirements of MH’s Compliance Program, including, but not limited to the Code of Conduct, the Compliance Policy, Mahaska Health Experience Book and all supporting policies for compliance, and compliance plans affecting specific duties and responsibilities.Ability to perform the essential work functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
