ABOUT THE ROLE
The University of Kentucky Pediatric Emergency Department is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Pediatric Emergency Medicine physician to join our faculty. This is an excellent opportunity to practice in a collaborative, academic environment while delivering top-tier emergency care to children across Central and Eastern Kentucky. Kentucky Children’s Hospital Pediatric ED : As one of only two tertiary pediatric centers in Kentucky, the Pediatric Emergency Department serves as a leading referral center for the region. With over 32,000 annual pediatric ED visits, our department is dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care to children in need.
PRACTICE HIGHLIGHTS
- Scope of Practice : Full-spectrum pediatric emergency medicine, including acute stabilization, trauma, and emergent care for children of all ages.
- State-of-the-Art Facilities : 31-bed Pediatric ED with additional treatment spaces; department expansion planned with a brand-new, state-of-the-art Pediatric ED in the coming years.
- Comprehensive Support : 24 / 7 respiratory therapists, pharmacists, social workers, dedicated Pediatric ED child life specialists, and in-person interpreter services.
- Collaborative Environment : 24 / 7 in-house PICU attending coverage, pediatric orthopedics group affiliated with Shriners Hospitals, full spectrum of pediatric medical and surgical subspecialties, and dedicated neonatal and critical care transport teams.
- Academic Role : Active involvement in medical education for medical students, residents, and PEM fellows, with support for research and academic growth.
