Job description

A community services organization in New York City is looking to add a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join their growing team at one of their group homes in Brooklyn and Queens.

About the Opportunity :

  • Schedule : Monday to Friday
  • Hours : Flexible
  • Setting : Article 16 Clinic / Group Homes
  • Patient Population : Adults (Ages 18+)
  • EMR : PrecisionCare

Responsibilities :

  • ReviewsMD's referral and persons receiving services medical record prior to determining speech / language therapy services. Refers to specialty clinics as needed (ACC, dysphagia)
  • Evaluate and assess the persons receiving services' needs and level of functioning in the areas of : speech, language, cognitive & social aspects of communication, voice, augmentative and / or alternative communication (ACC), and eating / management of diet (dysphagia)
  • Devise treatment plans based on the assessment; administer treatment involving the application of communication and / or feeding aid modalities
  • Write specific, objective, and measurable documentation which is outcome oriented and details the persons receiving services' needs, potential to benefit from treatment and progress achieved to date
  • Communicate effectively with discharge planning from rehabilitative programs
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

    • Qualifications :

  • Graduate of an accredited Speech-Language Pathology school
  • Master's Degree
  • NYS Language Pathologist (SLP) license
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence
  • Solid understanding the principles of modalities employed in SLP
  • Knowledge in the use of Augmentative Communication devices, Therapeutic Feeding techniques, and Speech & Language Intervention strategies
  • Computer savvy
  • Good written-verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to travel as assigned to other Healthcare Centers, Article 16, day programs, or residential sites, if warranted.
