Patient Care Technician (PCT)

ATC Healthcare is looking for a PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN (PCT)!

The PCT provides direct patient care and technical support under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse. This position assists with daily living activities, performs EKGs and phlebotomy, and supports patients with psychiatric and behavioral health needs in a hospital setting.

Compensation : $21.00 – $23.00 per hour

REQUIREMENTS OF THE PCT POSITION :

Completion of an approved Patient Care Technician program .

BLS certification (required).

PCT certification via NHA (National Healthcareer Association) .

One of the following De-Escalation Training Certifications : CPI, MOAB, Handle with Care, TRUST training, or Preventing and Managing Crisis Situations.

Must have hospital experience , including phlebotomy and 12-lead EKGs .

Ability to perform IM injections and assist with oral medication administration under nurse supervision.

Excellent communication, de-escalation, and teamwork skills.

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS :

Hospital-based behavioral health / psychiatric unit serving patients with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, anxiety, trauma, and other severe mental illnesses.

Patients are typically medically stable ; medically unstable patients are transferred out.

Security available in-house 24 / 7.

Shifts : 7 : 00 AM–3 : 30 PM, 3 : 00 PM–11 : 30 PM, and 11 : 00 PM–7 : 30 AM.

Weekend requirement : Every other weekend.

Scrub color : Eggplant.

Orientation : 3 weeks (1 week classroom, 1 week inpatient units, 1 week on assigned unit).

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PCT :

Perform phlebotomy and 12-lead EKGs .

Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility.

Provide 1 : 1 patient observation and ensure patient safety.

Conduct contraband searches and property inventories for incoming patients.

Support nurses and physicians with patient care procedures and treatments.

Assist with IM injections and PO medication administration as directed.

Record vital signs , intake / output , and report changes in condition promptly.

Transport patients to and from diagnostic areas such as X-ray or CT.

Maintain a clean and safe environment, following infection control and safety standards.

Utilize de-escalation techniques to support patients experiencing behavioral or psychiatric crises.

Collaborate with nurses, physicians, respiratory therapists, and security staff to ensure quality patient care.

Participate in ongoing training and maintain required certifications.
