The Space Propulsion and Advanced Concepts Engineering in the William E. Boeing Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics has an opening for a temporary research scientist / engineer 1 to help support a number of funded research programs in the area of electric space propulsion.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Space Propulsion and Advanced Concepts Engineering in the William E. Boeing Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics has an opening for a temporary research scientist / engineer 1 to help support a number of funded research programs in the area of electric space propulsion. The positions major duties and responsibilities are :

Electromechanical System Design and Implementation

• Work independently to design and test various electromechanical systems.
• Design and implement motorized actuation stages for in-vacuum experiments
• Construct and test inverted pendulum thrust stand for electric propulsion testing
• Contribute data to papers being written for reports / publication
• Participate in lab meetings
• Identify problems and related technical issue and recommend solutions

General Lab Administration and Operations

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Equivalent education / experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license / certification / registration.
