Responsibilities
- Diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul buses and trucks, or maintain and repair any type of diesel engines. Includes mechanics working primarily with automobile or marine diesel engines.
- Have strong mechanical aptitude; diagnose and repair problems.
- Perform annual vehicle and safety inspections; preventative maintenance and other repairs as necessary.
- Comprehend and complete repair orders, inventory forms, PM schedules, repair forecasts.
- Prepare safety documents required by DOT, company and any other Federal, State or Local regulations.
- Use technical manuals, service bulletins, diagrams and schematics.
- Update responsibilities to reflect company and market needs.
- Use handtools and power tools, such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, or precision instruments, and equipment such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, or jacks and hoists.
- Specialize in repairing and maintaining parts of the engine, such as fuel injection systems. Rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels.
- Recondition and replace parts, pistons, bearings, gears, and valves. Rebuild gas or diesel engines. Raise trucks, buses, and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists.
- Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
- Operate valve-grinding machines to grind and reset valves.
Qualifications
A valid driver's license is preferred.Minimum of one year related industry experience. Must provide own tools. Tool program available.Strong problem solving skills.Application Instructions
